Traffic Advisory: Southbound Interstate 680 Express Lane to Temporarily Change to HOV Lane

The California Department of Transportation, in partnership with Alameda CTC, has scheduled a modification of vehicle usage on the southbound Interstate 680 (I-680) express lane between State Route 84  to State Route 237 in Sunol, Alameda County. Beginning on Monday, August 10, 2020, vehicle usage will be restricted to HOV ONLY (high-occupancy vehicle; carpool) during the operating hours of Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This temporary change is being made to accommodate construction work, such as paving, striping, electrical system upgrades and other improvements that will synchronize the express lanes. Tolling is to resume in spring 2021.
