Alameda CTC Hosts Workshop on Active Transportation

On Thursday, October 20, 2023, the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) gathered elected officials, public agency leaders and stakeholders to discuss policies and strategies to support the implementation of high-quality bicycling networks throughout Alameda County. The workshop sought to reaffirm and deepen understanding about the importance of safety and connected active transportation options in all communities to meet policy goals and commitments to community health, safety, climate and equity. Discussions were designed to highlight policies and strategies that attendees can take back to their communities to deliver the highest quality bikeway projects.

The hybrid event included a fireside chat led by Alameda CTC Chair Bauters featuring current and former elected officials from around the country who have led work in their communities to implement transformative bicycling infrastructure. The participants then heard from local, regional and state leaders about key policies that support the advancement of high-quality active transportation infrastructure. The final panel featured presentations from three Alameda County jurisdictions sharing how they are leading innovative work delivering major safety improvement projects in their communities.
