The Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) through its Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools (SR2S) Program is excited to announce that students from schools across Alameda County are participating in Bike to School Day tomorrow, Thursday, May 15. Bike to School Day aims to motivate students to make transportation choices that are active and more sustainable. In addition to bicycles, scooters, and assistive devices such as wheelchairs, other forms of active transportation are highly encouraged.
Bike to School Day is one of several major SR2S events designed to maintain students’ interest and excitement throughout the school year about shifting transportation modes to active options. The event is held during May, which is National Bike Month. Bike to School Day also coincides with the Bay Area Bike to Wherever Day 2025 (formerly Bike to Work Day) which also occurs tomorrow, May 15. Please visit the Bay Area event webpage to learn more about local activities and to make a personal pledge to ride.
