Express Lanes Toll Ordinance

The Alameda County Transportation Commission (“Alameda CTC”) toll ordinance allows for the administration of tolls and enforcement of toll violations on Alameda CTC Express Lanes. The ordinance establishes usage requirements and civil penalties for the evasion of tolls. Alameda CTC’s Express Lanes include the I-580 and I-680 Express Lanes in Alameda County.

Alameda CTC adopted toll ordinance updates at its April 25, 2024 meeting. The updates included reference to the I-680 Express Lanes in Alameda County following the dissolution of the Sunol Smart Carpool Lane Joint Powers Authority (Sunol JPA) and transfer of governance for the I-680 Sunol Express Lanes from the Sunol JPA to Alameda CTC.

Alameda CTC is amending the toll ordinance to incorporate changes to the I-680 Express Lane limits and to remove references to Clean Air Vehicle discounts.
